The firs tube of 11 manufactured within the scope of Marmaray Project was mounted on the base of Istanbul Bosphorus yesterday by a method used for the first time in the world. In this operation in which 11 tubes shall be submerged to the part of Bosphorus with thousand 384 meter long, “tube tunnel” has been mounted to the sea bottom by being submerged 4 centimeters every hour by a 8 hours – operation and placed into the trench dug on the sea bottom. It has been declared that ; remaining 10 units of tube tunnels – 135 meter long, weighted at 18 thousand tons and 8.5 meter height- shall be mounted to the sea bottom in every 45 days. Minister Yıldırım, upon a question, recorded that the financial value of one tube tunnel costs 35 million dollars and stated that the project shall connect two continents 60 meter under the water and divided railed system shall be inserted. He explained that ; the Project has been carried out by General Directorate of State Airports Authority, Japon Contractor Company Taisei Corporation, Gama- Nurol Company and Avrasya Consultancy Company.
