Marmaray will pass under the Bosporus to connect European and Asian continents and is planned to be opened on 29 October 2013 and to be put into operation in September 2013. Mayor Mustafa Kara stated that Uskudar would embrace a whole new face with the realization of the most important project of the history of the Republic and become a centre of attraction and that they were already preparing for its completion. He also expressed that with the completion of Marmaray, exhibition halls will be constructed for the archaeological artefacts recovered from the site.
