Within the scope of the court case proceeding at the 1st Administrative Court of Diyarbakır upon a request for the cancellation of the contact signed for the construction of the Ilısu Dam Project, the expertise report prepared as a result of the studies performed in the historical district of Hasankeyf was presented to the court. The 15-page expertise report prepared by 3 members of the faculty of Istanbul University stated that Ilısu Dam will provide a yearly contribution of 300 million Dollars to national economy. Also addressing the issue of whether there is a public benefit to the dam, the report indicated that Ilısu Dam will become the fourth largest dam of Turkey in terms of established power, generating a yearly amount of energy of 3.8 billion Kilowatts per hour.
