Serial production of the Kaplan MT (Harimau) medium-weight tank, designed and developed in Turkey to meet a need of Indonesia, has been launched. Discussions are underway for related to further export opportunities. The launch of serial production of Kaplan was announced by Nail Kurt, Senior Executive of FNSS, who stated that a prototype would be delivered by the end of the year, with most of the remaining orders delivered in 2021. He said: “Our expectation in Indonesia is that the project will continue at full pace. To the extent that the budget allows, we expect to receive additional orders in the course of this year and next year.” Pointing out the usefulness of Kaplan, Kurt noted that this feature of the tank attracts the attention of many countries in today’s asymmetric warfare environment.
