A new stage is started in Izmit Bay Bridge, the most important crossing point of Gebze – Orhangazi – Izmir Highway Project that shall decrease the travel time between Istanbul – İzmir to 3.5 hours. Installation of the 254 meter high towers of the bridge was completed at the end of the year. The next step at the bridge, which is the stringing of the messenger cables to be used for stringing of the main cables that shall carry the main decks on which vehicles shall pass is completed a while ago at both sides. Finally, the works are started for the temporary walkway called the “catwalk”, on which engineers and workers shall carry out the works for stringing of the main cables that shall carry the decks.
