Utilizing the Northern Marmara Highway and crossing the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, we encountered an unusual sight \u2013 traffic coming to a halt on the Osmangazi Bridge. The next day, I sent a text to O\u011fuz \u00c7arm\u0131kl\u0131, Vice Chairman of Nurol \u0130n\u015faat, saying, &#8220;We&#8217;ve never witnessed the Izmir-Istanbul Highway this congested before. Traffic came to a standstill for nearly half an hour just before the tunnel on the Bal\u0131kesir-Bursa stretch. It&#8217;s quite likely a record-breaking period for vehicle crossings in recent times.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>O\u011fuz \u00c7arm\u0131kl\u0131 responded as follows: &#8220;Indeed, on Friday, June 23, 2023, we had 99 thousand vehicles crossing. Then, on Saturday, June 24, the number of vehicles passing through surged to 117 thousand.
