The fourth phase of the North Marmara Highway\u2019s Kurtk\u00f6y-Akyaz\u0131 section was inaugurated with a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan through a live link-up. The opening of the 45 kilometer highway to traffic effectively connects the Gebze-Orhangazi-\u0130zmir Highway with the North Marmara Highway via Osmangazi Bridge, and the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge \u2013 which serves the transit transport traffic \u2013 with the Osmangazi Bridge.<\/p>\n
The Istanbul Park Intersection and the Gebze OSB Intersection in this section of the highway has also entered into service, providing a connection between Kocaeli, a province that is home to Turkey\u2019s most important organized industrial zones, and the North Marmara Highway in the Gebze District. It also constitutes a connection between Dilovas\u0131 and the various settlements and industrial zones in its surroundings, and links all of them with the main highway. These road works have not only reduced travel times, but have also helped reduce the exhaust emissions released by vehicles into the environment and decrease maintenance and operation costs.
